Comments from the proud father, Hector: I cannot forget the statement made by one of the parents who attended the ceremony, and I will quote what she said to me that very day “Is that your son? not bad “Huh”, He almost garnered all the awards given out there. Not to be outdone is his creativity in writing, since his writing was chosen by a panel of elementary teachers in the Olympia School District and was asked to deliver the graduation’s farewell speech. I remember the day before the last day of that school year, he approached me and asked “Dad, will you be attending the ceremony. My response to him was “Maybe” and I asked him in return “Do I need to?”. He replied and said, “It’s up to you Dad” and never mentioned a thing about his achievements”. But as a parent, we would not allow to pass up that very special moment. I was overjoyed during the ceremony since he kept everything in the closet and of course, very proud and blessed. |
